How does it work?

The principle to this scheme is surprisingly simple. Companies and agencies pay search engines such as Google and Yahoo a premium to ensure that the link to their website is highlighted on the first page of results.

Through our partners at Whitebox we are able to access some of the profits made through the Yahoo search engine for you. Once registered on the scheme you will earn around 3p for each search made using search boxes linked to your organisation. This costs your supporter nothing and there are no set up costs or charges whatsoever.

Our experience to date

To test it, we limited the scheme to staff within this organisation (6 users) for 6 months and have generated over £120. Whitebox analysis of fundraising to date shows that an average user can generate over £30 per year. Obviously the more supporters, the higher the return. As an example 30 people supporting your group would raise around £900 per year.

Are there other schemes like this?

Schemes of this nature have been around for some time the most commonly known would give a return of 1p per click and searches are linked to the Ask.com search engine.

Of course the preference of search engines is subjective but many people believe that Yahoo as a major search engine second to Google. But the bottom line is that the difference of 3p per click to 1p per click is a black and white argument.

Why is Involve doing this?

Involve's role is to support and develop voluntary and community groups and this scheme enables groups to access a new sustainable funding stream.

However, we must make clear that we do receive a small commission from income generated by clients but this is not deducted from your earnings and your will still receive the maximum 3p per click.

We can provide marketing materials for you to promote use within your supporters and to negotiate use with corporate sponsors. Companies (and others) can include one of your search boxes on their own websites and again you would earn 5p per click.
