What is it and how do we get it?
One of Involve's functions is to enable training to meet the needs of the Voluntary Sector across Mid Devon. Previously we have provided our training through a scheduled programme of courses. Whilst we review this method of training provision we will be relying more heavily on courses provided directly to organisations through the bespoke training scheme (details outlined below).
In addition to the bespoke training scheme we are more than happy to refer to other relevant training providers where appropriate solutions are known to us.
How
We may be able to provide training purely to your organisation or we may need to encourage participants from other groups within your area to make a course viable. In either case we will try to set the date and times of the course to suit your specific needs.
What
Clearly meeting training needs by creating bespoke training is more time consuming than meeting those needs through a programme of scheduled training. Therefore, we may not be able to consider this solution for all training requests, but will accommodate as many requests as time and resources allow.
Where
When considering Mid Devon wide courses, geography dictates that courses should be held in Tiverton. When considering bespoke courses, we are providing a course directly to you and we try to locate a venue, which is convenient to you. If your organisation has access to a building and it is practicable, we can use this as the venue (it helps to keep the course costs down).
How much
Like all of Involve's training, we subsidise the costs. However, it is worth remembering that if a course is being provided purely for one organisation that any costs remaining, after our subsidy, have to be met in full by that organisation. Therefore, the more participants that attend, the more cost effective it becomes.
Who
We will use the same standard of trainer that we use in our scheduled training. Of course individual trainer's costs, dependent on the specialisms required for the course requested, are likely to vary course costs. Sometimes we may identify that provision of the training is more cost effective if sourced wholly through another provider. In this case we will put you in touch with the provider to arrange the terms of the training directly.
You may also want to consider 'opening' the course to other organisations in your area this helps to spread the costs, based on the number of participants.
If you want to discuss this alternative training route please contact Duncan Wood or by e-mail to Duncan.
