Membership of Involve is free to any 'voluntary or community organisation' operating in the Mid Devon District Council area.

Involve defines a 'voluntary or community organisation' as:

"Any existing or embryonic voluntary or community organisation (this includes one or more individuals seeking to set up a group) which is run entirely by volunteers or by a voluntary management committee / board of trustees / board of directors. Such organisations may have paid employees.

These organisations may or may not be registered charities (incorporated or unincorporated) but must have charitable objectives. This definition excludes organisations that fulfill a statutory obligation."
